Yeah I want another filter to replace my Emperor 400. I would buy another EMP. But I want another canister filter. I don't want to blow another 230 dollars on another Fluval Fx5.

So I was thinking of the Penn Plax 1500 Canister or the Marineland C-360 canister.

I will be using this in conjuction with my Fluval. I have a 150 gallon tank.

One of my reason why I want one is because You can never have to much filtration. Another reason is I have alot of free floating particals on the top of my water. The Fluval's output isn't reaching all the way too the other side of my tank, so its actually pushing all the floaties to one side.

WHat I plan on doing is getting the new filter and put the out put new the allready existing intake of my Fluval and the intake of the new filter near the output of the Fluval. (I hope that made sense). Pretty much im making a sttager of intake, output, intake, output. So pretty much I will have water disturbance, and filtration all over the tank.

thats what i do... as my tank has a peice of glass in the middle dividing it. so i have a filter on each side... its a great idea.

When you say floating particles on the surface do you mean like oil looking? If its this you mean its easy to remove by creating a disturbance. an air stone or pointing your filter output up and close to the surface should do the trick.

I have an fx5 on my 120 and I've noticed stagnant water on top(grow out tank with 6 3" tigers) I may add an airstone also.

Yeah I saw that also, but im speaking more on the fact that it looks like food particles or anything that is too light to settle to the filter or to the floor.

instead of another canister youmight think of adding a hob. i use an aquaclear 110 in conjuction with my fx5 to help with the mechanical fitration and i found it works great together.
