I have seen these and my new tank came with one but can someone please explain to me how they work??? I don't understand!

They suck the gunk down through your gravel and it piles up there. You can clean it with your python but once a year or so I take it all out and clean it good. I only have them in 2 of my tanks now. For me it's easier to just use a thin layer of gravel and python it out. Sand is even better but hubby says you can't use it with sand. He likes them but I'm the one that does the cleaning and I don't.

I had one in one of my 55's and I removed it about 3 weeks ago because it was just the grate in the bottom, no power heads or anything and that was the grossest thing I have ever seen....I had to take about 80% of the water out. refill and take half the water out again... YUCK....

I have 2 riser pipes connected to a air pump on mine. If you're really careful about not overfeeding you don't have to clean it often. Just python the top and dig down into it good and it's not bad. I'm hooked on sand now and want to change them all now.

I just got to looking and the new tank I bought, has crushed coral. So now I guess I need to wash some rocks..

we should live closer, I have 200 pounds freshly washed and nothing to do with it.

not till you pointed it out, I'm wiped out tonite, he's worked me all day and now I'm full and ain't moving.

Nothing is gonna happen here but burning a few more movies then crawling to the shower and bed. You'd think he'd want to rest on his only day off, sheeesh!

I don't know about Paul and Glen but BGH last I heard was still with is daughter.. I miss them too. This site has been far to quiet, and nobody else flirts... I miss them
