Hi everyone,
i need your help please, i am looking at buying my 1st canister filter. I have a 70 gallon tank with a internal jewel filter which is just not good enough now my oscar is getting bigger. The problem is i dont know alot about canister filters, & dont want some guy from to store selling me something i dont need or something not powerful enough to deal with Oscar keeping.

I was told that the Eheim 2028 pro II is a good filter. Please can you give me your expert input & experiences you have had with canister filters.
Cheers Alan

No problem... I figured when I bought mine that it was a little expensive but it is rated for up to 400 gal. tank. So I wouldn't have to buy one again!!!

I have got two Eheim 2028 filters and they are absolutely superb.however, they are quite expensive but you do get what you pay for.

Never used an FX5 but I'm pretty sure you have got a lot of filter for your money. Either of these filters will give you what you want, and much more.

ehiem, fluvial, renal and other brands are all reliable pump.
you get what you pay for on this items. there are some imitations
made from asia that works the same. the only problem is warranty,
parts, and after sale service.

what i can suggest is the concept of split capacity, meaning
you get two units with the combine capacity needed or larger.
the advantage of this is that you have back up whenever one
bugged down. moreover, cleaning is more practical since you
have to schedule them one at a time

ozonizer will do but in the absence of it, you can
ripple the discharge point of your pump to create
aeration. in some instance, they raised the
discharge point to make bubbles of dropping
water. however, some people don't like the sound
of flowing water.

Glad my family don't mind the sound of flowing water, with the 1000Liter i run indoor and the 6000Liter waterfall in my garden.
Some people have to go pee all the time when coming over to my place because of the sound of the water:blink:
