In the past when I had an oscar it would break heaters. We were buying a new one ever year or so. This went on the whole 10 years we had him.
So I want to avoid that.
What heater do you suggest that does not break? Or is there still no such thing?
It is for a 55 gallon with one albino tiger oscar.

Check some of these heaters out. I have got a Jager in my 125 tank and the Oscars haven't broken that yet, although I often hear it banging against the side of the tank.

I use this one in my Oscar tank after going through about 4 heaters. Anyway they can't break it. It is guaranteed. And trust me they have tried!

Mine is a Rena too, it's inside a hard plastic case but I don't remember the name.

Ok, I got no heater , but where do U keep your Thermometer to stop your O from breaking it?

in one of my client, i put a serated PVC tube near the discharge
point to get the correct reading. no fish could ever get it inside
the PVC tube. and i think heater could also be shielded with bigger PVC
pipe.

I am going to get a rena smart heater. Look just like what I well need. I use a stick on thermometer. They can't break that.

It's best and safer for the fish to put the money into a good one to begin with. It saves time stress and money in the long run.

So if i can get 2 x plastic guard covers to fit my heaters then the oscars won't be able to break them?
I have 1 x 300w and 1 x 200w heater in my tank at the moment so i don't perticularly want to have to buy another one when i get 2 oscars lol

If you have a canister filter,you can get an in-line heater. They are pricy, but worth the money.I also have a Rena smartheater, with the combo inlet tube. Its nice because you only have one inlet and heater sticking down the back of the tank.
