hey,
im running a 75 gallon standard sized tank. my oscar is about 4-5 months old, and has already reached 6 inches . also housed in this tank is a common pleco that the oscar has had with him since i first brought home both of them. the pleco is about 5 months old and is about 5 inches. im running a Eheim professional 2 at approx 251gph. i do a water change once every two weeks of about 25%. the 75 gallon tank has been cycled and running for a few weeks with both fish happily inside.. a fresh change from the 32 gallon i had them in not that long ago :O.
all parameters are good. water temp is a very stable 25 degrees cel. as it has been since i first got the fish.
my questions are:
1)Is my filtering adaquate for the life span of both fish?
2)the outlet of the filter doesnt cause a whole lot of surface agitation, i have set up a air pump running to a stone inside the tank, will this suffice?
3)is it ok to have the intake and the output on opposite sides?.. i figure this makes more sence than having them side by side...?
4)will my 300 watt heater be ok?... i know the general rule is 5watts/gallon.. but it has been doing a good job..?
i have a you tube video here that may offer a better view of my tank..
thanks
ps.. i hope youtube is allowed if not i appoligise.

adequacy of filtration will depends on your type of water maintenance too.
yes, it can cope up with your tank size, but feeding, water change, and cleaning the system plays important role too. even if you have over capacity pump but you do not clean the system properly, you can not achieved good water parameter.
2)the outlet of the filter doesnt cause a whole lot of surface agitation, i have set up a air pump running to a stone inside the tank, will this suffice?
yes it will. air pump is for additional oxygen dissolve and sometimes for background bubbles effect.

the intake and discharge point being at the opposite side is most ideal to cover the whole tank water movement. most hobbiest uses that 300 watts of heater without problem.

I don't use them so I don't know. I do know that a lot of people here love them. Is it possible to move your output so it does have better surface movement?
It's NOT smart to piss off the girl with the BAN button!
powerheads are nice but i have found that when i put things in the tank that can be knocked down or moved or anything my o's will do it. i personally just use the long triangle airstones on the ends of the tank which in its self makes a cool look being burried and not high maitence
I have lost my mind be back when I find it, maybe.
