Looked around a bit, couldn't find exactly the right place to post this, so if this isn't the spot, i'll repost in it's appropriate spot.

Anyhow,

Been looking to get my first tank in which to house an Oscar. A friend of mine is looking to sell his 77 Gallon ( US gallon I believe) with everything but the fish (he has a beautiful salmon pink Oscar, I seen someone else on the site had a look-a-like by the name of Alma I think, but they're not coming with)

Anyhow, i'm not really sure how much the setup is worth. It's got two filters, heater, python water changer and the whole nine yards. Since it housed 2 oscars for about a year and a half I believe the setup is quite sufficient for my needs but i'm not sure of a price. He says whatever i'm comfortable with, but I don't want to rob him. Any ideas?

Wow, I rambled alot for a pretty straightforward question lol...

Hi Kranix, and welcome to the site. I buy and sell a lot of tanks from my home in Upstate New York. Considering the area and higher prices in NY, I would recomend a price of $1.00 per gal. for a glass tank, up to $1.25. per gal. Friends I have also state this as the going price. Secondly filters, a good canister filter could be worth as much as $100.00. If there Hang on the back filters you could offer some money, but ther price new is between $40 to $80 for a 60 gal HOB. Its very hard to tell prices without the equiptment names and maybe a pic. I hope this helps.

Another thing you can do is to check your local Craigslist or classified adds to find out how much a similar set up is going for in your area. I know here I bought a 75 bow with gravel, stand, canister filter for about 200 but in other areas the same set up would have cost double. So I would just check around.

Fairest way for you both is to take a look on ebay and find some similar. depending on condition and age of pumps i would say a little over half price of the new item if you bought it now.
