TOPIC: making your own driftwood

making your own driftwood 4 years, 8 months ago #4229

Hello

My parents own a farm backing onto a nice creek and I found some really nice looking wood for the tank. Right now its floating in the tank, so I've got it tied down with a brick. I soaked it for two weeks in the laundry tub before hand. Any suggestions / comments? I can't afford to buy driftwood that big, it would cost me a few hundred bucks (its about 3 foot long, 1 foot high).

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but you can't just put any any old bits of wood in your aquarium. If you were to put that wood in your aquarium, it would just rot and cause serious problems. Remember that bog wood is preserved. Other bits of wood that people have such as mopani has actually come from under the water so they can be used in tanks.
