Hey there, I just picked up the 180g and have some ?'s about the filter system with it. It is a Amiracle SR-400 with a Rio 1700 642gph pump. Will this be adaquit with a 9" Oscar, 7" Pacu, 7" Pleco, and maybe two Jacks(unsure of size)
This filter is new to me so i'm kind of skeptical hope some of you can shed some light on weather it will work well for freshwater applications!

Thanks

Tido

hey Tido, welcome aboard to this happy fish keeping site.

Rio 1700 could be enough and SR 400 will be an additional
back up. your tank size 180g can accommodate your stock option.

salt water to fresh water shift? just give a good cleaning
and yo will be fine.... salt is also used in fresh water tank

your stock list is kinda alright but the pleco(if its a sailfin or common) and the pacu will outgrow the tank in about a year or so.
as for the conversion just wash and rinse it thouroughly and you should be fine. also dont forget to cycle the tank if it has a new filter on it.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

This tank is a transition tank for the Pacu, 3' and 60 pounds needs alot of room... It gives me some time to save to build his next home!

I have read that i should reduce the amount of bio balls in the SR-400 as it may increase the Nitrates after a while? I have it ready but will be out of town for few days and don't think filling a tank and finding a leak after a few days would be fun.

Thanks for the sugestions and help!

considering the fish load your putting in the tank i would recommend that you use all available space for bio and let the water changes deal with the nitrates.

is use a sump on my 220 and have never had a problem with nitrates in over 2 years now. imho it is the way to go with large tanks.
