I've finally placed a order for a new tank which I should have in 4 weeks. My current pair of Oscars are in a 80L tank with no other tank mates.

I'm now upgrading to a 250L (55GL?) tank, I know this is still not big enough when my Oscars reach adult size but this is what I was able to afford for now.

I've also ordered for the the Eheim 2226 canister filter & Jager 300wt heater.

have I made the right choice with the filter?? Do I need to include a powerhead?

I was also considering having a colony, maybe around 4 to 6 clown loaches as tank mates, is this is a god idea??

anyway I need suggestions of any kind to have a decent setup for my oscar. thanks.

If what you ordered is indeed a 55 gallon, I would suggest NO TANK MATES. a 55 gallon is big enough for 1 O, not 2. So you are already at more than too many fish...

250L = 65 US gal tank. i am not sure what is the footprints
but that is good enough for one full grown oscar with few
small specie tankmate. however, you will be needing good
filtration system to cope up with the bioloads.

is the 55gallon for a full grown O? because my O's are around 6' at the moment. I will certainly upgrade again if I have to at a later stage.

filters great along with the heater. Please forget any tank mates your heading for trouble if you ignor me. its a very poor idea. stick with just the 2 oscars for that tank size. your new tank is still not large enough and your oscars will be large in a few wks. clowns also grow very large i admit at a very slow rate but even small fish poo. if you have money for a power head and clowns try to put it to a larger tank.
