TOPIC: Possibly Upgrading

Possibly Upgrading 2 years, 9 months ago #47364

Hey guys.

I think my Oscars need a bigger tank, I have 2x20cm Tiger Oscars and they're in a 150L tank/300watt Heater. They've been going strong for 3+years but I think it's time....

Now, I don't know much about filtration etc... as We've always just had the "In-Water pump" and not the external ones etc.... Where do you suggest I read about these new filters?

What size tank/parts do you think I should be upgrading too?

If you could, please link to parts that are listed on here - www.theaquariumshop.com.au/default.asp Apart from the tank which will be purchases elsewhere.

Thanks!

This would be a great filter.... www.theaquariumshop.com.au/shopexd.asp?i...er%20Filter%20EF1300

With O's you can never have too much filtration!

And you should look for a about a 450 liter tank.

Hmm, ok, so what do you suggest?

I also have a 300watt heater currently, it's doing very nicely.

What else is required apart from a new filter/tank?

How do you attach the pump + maintain it?

dinddong (unusual name) I don't know where you are from. I looked in your profile to see if it told me. Anyway if you have craigslist.org where you are at, that would be the place to find a reasonably priced used tank and equitment. And do alot of reading here and you will be overwelmed with knowledge.
And welcome to the board.

Ok everyone, we now have a 300L tank which looks really large!!!

Anyway, I need help on the filter now. I have 2 options.

1) www.theaquariumshop.com.au/shopexd.asp?i...ister%20Filter%20305 (Can get this for <$300)
2) www.theaquariumshop.com.au/shopexd.asp?i...er%20Filter%20EF1300

Basically, I need performance and reliability, if something goes wrong, how hard are parts to find for that specific pump? How hard are they too clean? What are your opinions on it?

Thanks guys!
