the water in my tank is a tea colour due to a piece of driftwood i am using i was told my the guy i got my fx5 from to use some clay balls and some chemi pure and it would keep my water crystal clear but it has been 3 weeks and i think it is about the same and i think the only way i will get rid of it is through water changes...so i was wondering should i take out that stuff and just fill my fx5 with biomax and a filter pad at the bottom?

I don't know about the media but Waterchanges will help for sure against the tea-colour.
Had the same thing happen in my 90 Gl, but after several 50% wc things cleared up nicely.
I liked the dark colour very much at the time!

forget the clay balls and the chemi pure and fill your FX5 with normal media. Just keep doing water changes and eventually the yellow tea tinge will go

I had the same problem...

I just put Purigen in my sump filter - cleaned up the stained water in no time (it is quite expensive though). I tried the water changing route, but after 2 months of water changes every second say I got fed up and spent the money.
New to the whole Oscars thing..
