Where can I find a filter to fit a 150 U.S. gallon that my mom gave me?

you could build your own refugium/sump filter under your main tank. 150 gallon is a big tank, it needs alot of filtration.

this is my marineland 120gal tank (note its too wide to go in my house right now lol)
has another tank under it, with dual filter stacks, consisting of prefilters, 3 mechanical filters (two different types of filter material, one is loose and coarse to catch big stuff and the other is much finer filters, and a 4" bed of activated carbon and bentonite for both carbon filtration and biological filtration under all the other filters. i havent run this tank yet as i cant get it in my house.... but know it is an established saltwater lobster tank, and altho it is saltwater, the theory in filtration is the same. basically your choice in filtration is up to you, your cappabilities, and most importantly your budget.

id go with the canister personally... the idea of a power failure and having 120 gallons of water siphon out onto my floor really freaks me out (that really couldnt happen with this aquarium as it has the overflows in teh corners of teh tank... but ive heard horror stories on other systems without that)

a sump and overflows are actally quite simple to make but if your not handy at building things then a canister is the way to go on a 150. for a tank that size i would recommend a fluval fx5 (you can get them on ebay for a 2-3 hundered). this will provide adequate fitration for your tank size.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

this is a link that can guide you through the sump construction.

www.oscarfishlover.com/oscar-fish-advice...ry-or-trickle-filter

note: for a 150 gallon aquarium i would suggest using a sump in the 34-40 gallon range

and if your tank is not predirlled for a sump here is a link for an easy to make overflow system.

if you have any questions about the construction just ask

good luck to you

Be sure to let us know what you decide!
I'm so curious.
I wouldn't want anything else than a sump for my 180Gl.
but I still use a canister and a HOB in my 90Gl.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
