After reading I decided to use carbon in my filter. I now how small particles of carbon floating in my aquarium. Is this bad?

Try and remove the carbon from the water. Also, in my opinion, you do not need to use carbon and your filters, you are not gaining anything from it apart from maybe slightly clearer water. Carbon removes impurities from the water so it is good to use after you have medicated your tank for instance
