Hey there i've had my 6 footer for about 5 months now and i cant say i like my light to much! The tank is an Aquaone all in one tank....tank, light, filter and stand all made to go together.
Rounded corners on the tank and round corners on the light unit to match....sounds good hey? it looks really nice but......

Well the problem is that when i have to open the tank for feeding, cleaning, decorating or whatever i have to lift up the whole light unit and i get blinded the lights and can't see the fish eating and makes it abit harder when cleaning. Its just a bit annoying.



The filter that came with the tank also sits ontop of the tank at the back



Just wondering if anyone else has a similar tank or any suggestion on how i could improve this????

Its a great looking tank and the trickel filter on top of the tank is awsome, the light is also pretty cool, it has 3 seperate switchs so i can have 3 different type of lights its just a bad design in guess.

man... id kill for a setup like that... blinding or not. i think your just spoiled lol.

just sux that the lid and light are one thing......got the tank second hand on ebay and thought there would be a seperat lid...ohh well

I'm pretty happy about everything else with the tank though!

it surprises me really. there isnt a little door in the top behind the hinge perhaps?

Nup its one big whole unit.....not so light either 6ft x 1ft

I think the idea is there is supposed to be a gap between the light and the filter, about in inch where food could be dropped in. I dont have that gap cause i also have a canister running on this tank and where the pipes go in and out of the tank it stops the filter getting pushed right to the back of the tank.

well then i would say you best wear sunglasses when you feed them, or turn the light off. if you say there is a gap at teh back of the tank, can you not feed them thru that without having to take the lid up? often i feed my fish by just dropping food into the filter return where the opening in the hood is.

You could always make yourself a new lid. It would be a tough job woth those rounded corners
