TOPIC: Lighting Question!

Lighting Question! 2 years, 7 months ago #55349

Hello,

My light randomly cuts off and on on its own. I changed the bulb and it does the same thing, some times if i hit it, it comes on. Do you think its the ballast or end caps? how do i fix it? is it cheaper to fix or buy a new one? it is a 4ft light. Thanks everyone!

on/off lighting? you need a pole dancer
no kidding aside, pls check wire splicing, ballast connection, starter, and
lamp tube. a new one? nah, you will not be sure it won't have the same problem.
when testing on store, it is functional, but upon arrival at home, it may have
the same defect...

it sounds like the ballast to me. it would probably be cheaper to replace the light.

i bought this one at lowes for 10 bucks, (the bulbs were another 10 dollars each as i got aquarium grow bulbs)

Mine does the same, the caps that are on both sides of the TL don't make right contact.
I sometimes have to press both side into the bulb, to get it working again.
I should replace those caps but it involves leading the wires through my dry-chamber, which is a pain...

Could be a dodgy connection or the starter. To check the starter, turn it in its holder and often the light will stay on. If this happens replace the starter. If not check connections
