Hi all, i have recently aquired a 3ft tank and am going to purchase an oscar. I already have the tank running with an undergravel filter system but was wondering if i am better off buying two underwater filters or one external cannister?

Definitely a canister filter. Having lots of filtration with messy fish like Oscars is always something we courage

if can afford several type of pumps, why not upgrade the tank and get one sizable
pump. your fish will be happier as well as you. less trouble in maintenance.

not sure in gal....im from australia....its a standard depth and height 3 ft tank.....if i could afford another big one at the moment id get a 6ft and have 2 oscars in there....but one will have to do....for now .....i was also advised by my local aquarium shop that if i put a med to large bristlenose in when the oscar is young there shouldnt be any trouble between them....as long as thr bristlenose has places to hide

3ft tanks normally are 3ftx24x18 or there abouts. that would make it around 45-55g ish. thats about minimum for 1 oscar. buy the largest canister you can afford, it will pay off in the long run. i would advise fluval or Ethim on brands to look for.

By a cannister, they are the best. Get one rated for a tank twice the size of your tank, eg if you have a 50g get a filter rated for a 100g tank
