Hi, so I was wondering what is the best way to clean calcium build up?
I would be concerned with chemical products and the fish.
Ideas?

What do you mean by that?
I raise my Kh with Kh+ to keep it steady at 7, but my tap water is like 3.
So every time i change 50% of my water Kh will be 5.
I never heard of a buildt up.

white vinegar... but i wouldnt do it while the tank is full of water and/or fish are in the tank; not sure how that would affect water/fish. if its the build up on your tank tops, take them off and put white vinger on the spots, let it soak for like 20 mins and hit it with a scrubby. as far as build up around water line, i would just soak scrubby in white vinegar and scrub until it helps clear.

Ohw, that's what you mean...
Vinegar works fine but I use 100% anti-calcium gel on the outside of the tank, if there is no risk in contaminating the water.

Sorry I wasn't thinking straight, those nightshifts make it hard to do that!
But you got some good advice anywayz.

All those options mentioned will work as they are all acids. White vinegar and lemon juice are weak acids but if you have a thick build up then consider using a shop bought limescale remover. As said dont clean the tank when its got fish in it.
