Hi everyone,

Has anyone here ever used a UV clarifier, i'm tempted cos i like the shiny shiny new things that are available for my fishes.
will it remove the microscopic critters that are good for my water, or will it give me super crystal clear water that's perfectly safe.

I have a canister with a UV sterilizer built in, and I LOVE IT!! That tank has NEVER had any algae growth! And my water is perfect. So it does NOT kill all the good stuff, and the water is always clear!

I give it an A+

These UV bulbs are mainly used in filters on outdoor ponds. Outdoor ponds are exposed to a lot more light than an indoor tank. These UV bulbs keep algae down, in fact the first sign people have that their UV bulb has failed is a green pond.

I dont see why they cant be used in tanks but i dont think it is necessary. It wont stop algae growing on the glass and if your maintainence is good you shouldnt get green water. Save your money and dont buy it
