Hi...I just saw an ad on craigslist for a used eheim 2028 canister filter...says it works perfect. They are asking $50 for it and I was wondering if its worth grabbing up. I would be using it along with a filster XP4 for when I get my oscars...thanks for any input.

eheim brand is a good brand like rena, and fluvial. just check the cost of the
brand new unit. if the price of the brand new is $100, don't get it.

Eheim manufacturer arguably the finest filters available. I have got two 2028 Eheim canister filters myself so I can vouch for how well they work. One filter is good for 132 gallons. If indeed the filters as good as they say, I would snap them up for $50. If they don't come with media, that will cost you quite a lot of money. But it seems like a very good offer to me

Well the new unit sells for about $250.00 new so i'm really tempted to pick this up...a little short on cash right now but who needs to eat, right? haha! 
Still waiting to hear if the filter comes with the media and everything...if it does I think i'm gonna go get it...best part is the people selling it only live a couple miles away so I could go get it right away!

Haha...yeah thats how I am with our other pets...half of the cupboards in the kitchen are pet food and treats...I think there is some people food in there somewhere...

I can relate to that.
I was only talking fish, not looking at birdfood, ratfood, dogfood and the gardenshed filled with tons of carpbait, like hempseed, pigeonfood and corn.
Better not to calculate the cost of all that stuff!

Yeah I just pretend it was all free otherwise I'd probably cry if I realized how much I spent on it all...haha it s bad when I just realized the cage that our birds have cost more than what I sold my old truck for this last summer! The things we do for our pets!

I build the birdcage together with my wife, for the same money she payed for a tiny cage.
The bird just flew into the house and stayed, so we build a cage for it...
He and his family still sing for me everyday!

Well the person with the Eheim emailed me back and it is just the empty filter with no filter media in it...still a good deal at $50 or is it gonna be not worth it having to buy all the filter media for it? I haven't really priced out the filter media much but i'm assuming it isn't going to be cheap for all that I need....what do you think?
