can you describe what type of filter are you running?

well, i haven't changed mine for like 1 year haha, Yes i know bad.

but i'm sure you did clean it from time to time, otherwise, it will be clogged by
now. most hobbyist do that...maximize the useful life of the media because it contains
the bacteria needed by the tank.

ha ha ha, power is normally used to create agitation of water in the tank.
however, if you set it up with correct cycle, it can deliver the rated
filtering capacity. this is how it should be arrange in the tank:

does it come with the overhead filter box? you can use some media like this:

just add a bag of ceramic rings to allow good water flow. any idea about the
flow rate capacity written in the plate.

i have 3 x 2400LPH running in my 6'x 30" x 24" modified like this:

difficult to tell unless there is a picture.
if it looks like ceramic tidbits or rings, then,
perhaps it is a bio balls.

then that is host for beneficial bacteria. you could put them at the last stage or
at the discharge point to make them effective.

yeah there at the last point, what does this get out of the water?
as the sponge would be collecting most of the ickky stuff.
What do the rings do?
