2:50am here lol so tired, i'll try to make sence.. anyway
About a week ago my powerhead stopped blowing bubbles... There is about an inch of water hovering inside the air intake tube.
I was lead to believe that it works by the flow rate of water being sucked which pulls the air and blows it into the tank, is this correct?
If so I was thinking i might have a blockage in the water intake tube or the powerhead itself which is decreasing flowRate and isnt enough to pull the air in, doesnt seem to be any different but im not to sure.
Was going to try and pull it appart to see tomorrow(today:P), never done this before so should be interesting.
Just wondering if im actually on track here or just jerking around lol. Input is much appriciated. Thank you

powerhead is so design to blow bubbles if the set up is right. maximum height is
6 inches below the water level...otherwise, no bubbles at all
have you connect the air breather hose properly?????????????????

yeah, it used to work great. I didnt install it. My tank/overhead wet dry filtration/hood/cabinet/lights are designed by aquaNova so its all as should be.
I was sitting here in my room and then it stopped started and stopped a few times then nothing.

I did check the air hose, I blew into it and bubbles came out so it wasnt blocked there, i even took it off to check it for a whole or something and its fine. It isnt even moving water submerged.

Its impossible for me to raise the powerhead any further then it is. Its not connected to the tank by suction caps.. It is mounted into the bottom of the filter tray, it sits 1-2 inches below the surface. The air tube is connected properly... Without pulling it apart I'm completely stumped.
Pre-setup tanks like this are a pain in the @ss.. It makes it so hard to add or change anything concerned with filtration... I have nowhere to mount HOBs and If i wanted to add a canister filter i'd be cutting holes somewhere in the plastic of the media tray.
My 8x 2.5 x 2.5 wont have this problem as it is custom and i only need another $400 and i've saved the $3000 AUD! its been a few weeks of soberness and suffering lol. I did asked them if i could pay for the cabinet/tank/hood separatley but they wouldnt do it..o well not far off now, I'll have to start thinking about the good bits soon... deco/substrate/backgrounds etc and a bloody truck to go pick the thing up wit lol. I hate waiting.
Thanks for your input Paul, its much appreciated and I thank you kindly. I'm so very frustrated with it though, I'll let you know how I do pulling the powerhead apart in the morning.

Ok So I pulled the powerhead out of the tank.
1st thing I checked was the Water Intake tube. yuck... It was a little clogged at the bottom as I suspected.
Then I opened the powerhead to access the impeller and what I found was it was coated with yuckies...lol cleaned it all out as well put it back together.
And now I have bubbles again. The flowRate of the Powerhead WAS actually impaired as suspected, proberbly mostly by the gunk around the impeller... Least now I know... Its back to moving ALOT more water, guess i should have payed more attention, now i have double the surface agitation from the return pipe.
Guess I'll add the powerhead to my MAJOR clean list when I do them... 3 months sounds reasonable.
