running two rena xp4's with no flow valves installed running wide open on my 8x2x2. i dont think you can have too much filtration. if you start seeing torn fins and the fish unable to control their position in the water you may want to turn it down a bit lol.
X2.
2 x fx5s on my 150g plus a wave maker 1200L flow.I once had a single filter running. got up one sunday morning to find it dead(not working) I had to run out and pay twice the price for another one. i will run 2 now.

I have the additon of knowing I will never get an ammonia spike with 800g of filteration.

I had this problem too, late one evening the one filter i had failed andi had to get one the next day. 2 filters are better than one, this way you will always have some filtration if one fails. I also keep a backup filter just in case one fails
You need filtration rated for a tank twice the size you have. So if you have a 100g tank you need filtration rated for a 200g tank, for example a 405 is rated for 100g so you will need 2
