When you say you placed the filters in a 30 gallon tank, were the filters running? also how long had the water been in the 30 gallon tank, anything living in it, or was it straight out of the tap?

I am a little confused. Did you put the filter on the tank that has the beta and the goldfish? And it stays running for a few hours? Where did you experience ammonia?

ok im getting ammonia in the 55 Gallon tank that brutis had been housed in... while we stripped the 55 gallon tank i placed the bio holsters from the hob's from the 55 gallon tank into the 30 gallon tank wich is well established with a gold fish and betta.. so the bio holsters stayed wet and oxygenated i dont understand why the 55 would try to cycle again.... we only placed the bio holsters in there since the filters also had to be dealt with to make sure of no contamination

i am confused too. have you check the 30 gal tank after removing the stuff?
i am afraid all bb died during medication, thus, those media do not have bb at all.

so you put the bio holsters into the other tank...
i think that alot of the remaining bb must have been in the rest of the filter/media.
you probably still have a small colony in what you were trying to save, just alot of it died off in the transfer and in cleaning the filter.
dunno for sure
