Is 87.5F to hot for my oscar in a 55 Gallon Tank?

I keep mine at about 78-80 degrees... All the posts I've read on here say the same. I think that might be too hot but I will let the experts on here tell you for sure.

I would say yes, that is a tad too high. An optimum temperature would be around 82°F, rising not much more than 84°F. If you need to treat for Ick then you could raise the temperature to 86°F or leave it like that for 10 days but I don't think I would leave it that high all the time

X2! Except I keep all of my tanks at 80 degrees.

About 80f is best. If you have it warmer your fish will grow quicker but you will reduce their lifespan

I concur, My aquarium maintains a consistent 80 degrees.
