Will this filter work OK on a 55 gallon tank with one small Oscar? I'll be getting the Penguin 350. It Filters 350 gal./hr. For aquariums up to 75 gallons.

I will be upgrading to canister filters in a few months. I just need something affordable that works well in the mean time. If there is a better option please let me know about it.

I'm sure it will suffice for the time being. However, I don't think that the manufacturers of these filters designed them for big messy cichlids like Oscars, I think they were probably designed for small community tanks. They do not sell them over in the UK, however I know they are popular in the states and many people like them very much. However, I think you'll be much better off with a canister filter.
