Ok...so I am going to be making my own python cleaning system from the link that Win gave me. I was wondering if a Python would work if it has to go up a flight of stairs? I have a hot and cold in the basement but no way to mix them to get the right temperature if using a python. My tank is at the bottom of the stairs and the bathroom is just at the top of the stairs so it's not all that far...just didn't know if that would have problems pulling water upstairs...I was thinking it should work because its using the water pressure for suction...just wanted to get peoples opinions.

Oh, and is there a thermometer that works good for testing the temp out of the tap...something that gives a reading quickly?

Thanks!

I'd say no won't go a flight of stairs.

I never regulate my water when I am filling mainly because I cannot. Hasn't been an issue for me.

Well I would like to get the temp as close to my tank temp as possible that is why I want to do it....anyone else able to get their python to work up a flight of stairs...I know a siphon won't work from low to high but I figure the python has suction...so if anyone has gotten one to work upstairs let me know if you had to do something...will be a much cheaper route this way rather than putting in a sink in the basement and easier than lugging buckets! haha!

Oh, and the cold side of my tap is like 50 degrees or cooler usually (especially in the winter) so I will need to regulate it somehow...thats way too much of a difference for me.

I use a garden hose hooked up to where the washing machine hooks up.

My washing machine is upstairs as well!

Also I need to be able to mix the water or my cold side will be way too cold to go into the tank.

it wouldnt drain up a flight of stairs, altho you might be able to fill it that way.

That would be cool Win! If only I had a faucet in the basement! haha...I have water hookups but don't have the money to put a faucet down here...crap...was hoping the pressure would drain up the stairs...looks like I'm stuck with buckets afterall

Well I live in Canada, so my water is pretty chilly. Usually only drops the tank 5 or 6 degs.

You are very dedicated to carry buckets up and down stairs my friend. I would imagine the ability to suck water up a flight of stairs is more contingent on how much water pressure you have (?)

Why not email the python people and ask them directly?

pythonproducts.com/contact.html

Maybe they would allow you to try it, and if it didn't work you could return it? I think if it works, it would be worth every single penny you pay for it. I honestly think the "python-type" product is the best piece of equipment I have - it has made my water changes a 5 minute task.

I did send them an email to see what they would say. I'm making my own python type system buecause its much cheaper to go that route. I figure i'll give it a shot and if it doesn't work i'll have to install a utility sink in the basement and do it that way.
