Two of these 250 Watt

Having two will give you a back up shall one fail, and will regulate the water temperature more efficiently

If it was me, I would go for a 400 W. If you ever need to raise the temperature then your heater will cope with it really well and won't be working overtime. Also, you will easily be old or leave it set on 27°C and it will only come on when it needs to be, not stay an all time.

I just purchased this one: www.marineandreef.com/JBJ_True_Temp_Tita...ing_System_s/602.htm

It so far is kick ass! I did get the 500 watt which might be more than I need for the 120 gal but they jump from 300 gal to 500 gal. It has a nice digital read out and auto setting - heater with thermometer all together. I love it!

i don't have any heater and don't need one. but getting a higher capacity
will give you more benefits than the smaller one. that is attaining the
desired temp efficiently, and will last longer.

I haven't installed it yet, but for my 135 gallon I went for an inline heater - you hook it up to the outtake from your canister. A few benefits are: 1) less equipment in the tank - heater is in the cabinet; 2) O's won't damage it; 3) fish won't hurt themselves by getting burned 4) heats water more evenly - on the way into the tank

i have a single 200 watt heater in the overflow on one end of my 8 footer submerged halfway down it. its odd that 200watts seems to be heating up 235 gallons very well... exactly 78 every time i check it at differnt times of day. i would think it wouldnt work nearly as well if i had it just stuck to the inside of the tank somewhere, that overflow puts it in fast current so it gets good heat transfer i guess.
