well, I've not got one of these filters but apparently they are rated up to 175 gallons, so in theory one of them should be enough for your tank. However, you have got quite a lot of fish so I would go for as much filtration as you can possibly afford.

personally i wouldnt bother getting any marineland product. in the long run (and in my experience) getting a better quality filter will in the long run be more cost effective.

my personal preference lays with fluval(but dont get me wrong if i could afford to swap my filters for eheim i would in an instant). their products are less expensive than eheim but still have a great track record for dependability and parts are not that difficult to obtain if need be.

buying a lower end filter can save you some cash in the now but paying a little more will give you better return on your investment by not having to replace them as soon.

I just checked here in the UK and a Rena X3 is £105, a Fluvel Fx5 is £185, that is a lot of difference and the guy has already says he hasn't got that much money. If you go for the eheim equivalent of the Fluvel Fx5, you're looking at over 300 bucks, that is £'s

but since we usually recommend a filter that is rated for 2 time the tank volume for oscars wouldnt it be cheaper to buy and fx5(rated for a 400 gallon tank) over buying 2 xp3 (each rated for a 175 gallon tank)
