Can anyone recommend a good Air pump? I have my two baby Oscar's on a small tank just now but will be transfering them to a 250 (i think) litre tank in a few months. The tank is a massive cube!

Cheers

I use a Rena air pump and love it! Extremely quiet...priced a little more than some other brands but well worth it for how quiet it is. I hate loud air pumps so that is why I tried the Rena and glad I did.

Check out the air pumps in the pond section, they tend to be cheaper than the powerful tank pumps and pump more air. I use Blagdon PA2

Mine is very quiet. Probably a good idea to ask the shop to set it up so you can see if it is noisy before you buy

i had it switch of for a few months as it pissed me off, not to bad as i run 2 external filters, both bio now but one has an attachment to airiate the water, maybe try and sell it and get some money towards a new one, i never thought about pond ones, this one cost me £40 and is good, just to bloody loud!

I build a pretty soundproof box filled with noise dampening foam.
Works like a charm.
Only left an opening for the fresh air.
My lil' airpump on the 90Gl makes more noise now!

i never tthought about that, im a joiner so can do it but what about fire risks? im guessing you just gambled on that, does it get a bit of a heat build up being in a box filled with stuff?

it's minimal, and surely not enough to cause a fire.
and when there's a fire there's 180Gl of water above it.
I'm sure a fire won't last long.lol

if you have a filter pump already, just position the discharge point above the
water and you will have good air bubbles....
