Hi,

I own 2 tanks, my first one was a 38 litre tank (i'm from aus ) which i used for some goldies and, then i purchased a 58l hex tank which was very nice, one of those blue planet tanks.

Housed 1 baby oscar in there (hex) for a few weeks and decided to upgrade to a 190l tank which i thought i got for a bargin price.

THere was only one problem, after having the first 2 tanks the glass was clear as day so i could see all my little fishes in all their true colours. When i got my 190l tank i was horified to see that it had a dark blue tint to the glass...

Initially i thought it was the gravael that coloured the tank as it was a darkish black colour. I then removed the gravel and only put water in the tank to see the colour, it was STILL Blue. i put a bright green plastic plant in there and it was a funny colour didn't look right.

Silly me thinking all tanks are CLEAR...

It looked clear enpty in the shop, even without water it looks clear.

Looks like i will asking for another tank.

Funny also when you look at tanks online for sale they don't mention the colour of the glass?... or did i just got what i payed for.

I have never seen a blue glass tank and would have made the same mistake. Is it a film that can be removed?

Here is a picture, My hex tank is in the background, you can see some plants too..

There is nothing in the new tank except water and gravel.

not nearly as blue as you made it out to be... the truth is most glass is not truely clear, the blue or green tint is common when you look at the edge of a piece of glass. thats normal.

i immagine that would actually look pretty sharp if it was a saltwater tank full of live coral that requires very powerful lighting.

Agree with most above...if you look at the edge of glass it will have a green or blue tint to it so there isn't really anything wrong with your tank...its normal.
