Ok so my local fish store is closing and they closeing it down this weekend so they sold me a 180 gallon tank for about 300 with the a steel stand which doesnt look all that bad. they also included some class lids with it. my my biggest concern is what kind of filters, heaters, and anything else that i may need for my new tank. ohh and by the way its all glass to so its going to be heavy. so please enlighten me in what i should get.

Sounds excellent, congratulations. Okay, depends how much money you have got to spend on filters heating and lighting. If it were me, I would go for two eheim professional three canisters, probably a couple of 300 W heater's, and some T5 lighting, beware that lighting can be very expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as the heaters. If you're on a budget, then either Fluvel or Rena produce large canister filters for slightly less money.

As the substrate, I would go for sand. I would also get myself a very large piece of wood if you intend on keeping Oscars. Ideally, you want to get your pH no higher than 7.0, preferably slightly lower.

Anyway, hope that helps a little

Nice upgrade. Congratz.
Good to see you took our advice at heart.
Your fish will love you for that .
If you have to get your tank yourself, please take 4 people with you.
I moved my fullglass 180Gl with 5 adults man and it still was a close call at some points.
My tank weighs allmost 200Kg, so i get where you're going.

btw we 'd love to see a step by step thread of your progress in pictures, so we can cheer at ya!

you can move all the water from your 55 to your new tank, and also place your old filter on the new tank.. you will need a BIG filter. and FX5 would be a good buy, check ebay...

you will have to keep a VERY close eye on your water.
