well i had this old tank, it had fish, then a lizard, then it got broke, then it sat in my shed till i decided to fix it. so i pitched it in my truck, rode to the glass shop, was actually given a piece of 1/4" glass for free, and picked up 2 tubes of 100% silicone from walmart, and patched it up last night.

the silicone is getting hard now

so this morning, i decided i wanted the background to be black...

the tank is 30Lx12Wx18H, which works out to just over 27 US Gallons. now what do... consolidate my 2 10 gallons into this one?? just bring over their filters, i actually have a couple hob's i dont use somewhere around here. i was just gonna set it on my dresser. maybe use one of my 10's as a sump filter for it?? im thinking sand for substrate on this one.

Cool...I have to do a similar repair on the 20 gallon I picked up.

You should put a Pacu in it...they only grow to the size of their tank....

Ok...everyone knows i'm only kidding! haha!

Btw Win...what did you use to paint the back?

now stop that ,Ikkie.
You know Win will put his Pacu in there just cuz you said it...
this is a serious advice forum.

btw If you want the repair job done just as good as Win did, i think you should start of with drinking a lot of booze.

well there were some chips on the corner, i put extra silicone there lol. i have no idea if it will work. im hoping it does, but if it doesnt, ill be out 8 dollars for the silicone. and btw, ikkie, i used gloss black krylon spraypaint, about 4-5 light even coats about 10 minutes apart.

Awesome...thanks. Gonna do the same with my 20 and probably the 55's as well.

I'm really wishing I would have painted the back of my 90 black instead of using a background...almost makes the tank look too "busy" if you know what I mean...might swap it for a straight black background in a couple weeks.

i keep kicking myself in the ass for not painting the back of my big one... took forever to get people to help me move, then the one day they could help, it was raining, so i couldnt paint it outside, and im not gonna do it inside, atleast not with spraypaint anyways lol

i went to petsmart this morning, 30lb of black sand was 30 bucks... i went to lowes... 50lb bag of washed playsand, $3.46 i also picked up a fountain pump, i was thinking about setting up sump for this tank using a 10 gallon tank, but instead of below it under the stand, im going to have them both on the same dresser top. i dunno if im really going to do it like a sump filter, or maybe more like a planted refugium. i think it should turn out pretty neat
