what is the best bio material out of the usual stuff like ceramic rings bioballs exc.?
although i would hate to see fish fight, my oscar would kick your oscars ass!

i have never had a problem with bio max from fluval. i use it in all my canisters and hobs and so far it has worked without fail for me.

Assuming that you are talking about media for canister filters then I have always used eheim canister filters which normally come with their own media included

However, if you are talking about sump filters than I like media with a very large surface area. It's not really practical to use canister filter media because it's just too expensive, it is best to go for pond filter media which is extremely efficient.

X2 all good advice. I have used both Ethiem and fluval bio ring all as good as each other.

x2! fluval biomax ceramic rings in all my filters now stuff works great

It doesnt really matter what type you use, the point is that is has a large surface area to volume. I have use the hollow tubes and the rockes that look like sponges
