Typically just patching a leak, won't fix it because new silicone doesn't like to stick to old silicone. So you end up having to redo the whole bottom, or entire side, of the tank. BUT - if you can get it to work then rock on! I think there are other members here who have had luck with that.

I dunno how big your Oscar is, but you might look into buying a Rubbermaid tote until the tank is fixed. It's cheap, and will give him a LOT more room than a dinky 10gl. Good luck!

Most silicone shouldn't be a week to dry...usually its dry within 24 hours...I let mine sit for 48 hours just to be on the safe side before I filled it.

Also I would advise to reseal the whole tank...like stated above new silicone doesn't stick to old silicone very well. Basically scrape out the old silicone on the inside of the tank and clean all the seams with rubbing alcohol to get all the old stuff off (make sure the glass is clean and no silicone is left behind)...then let the alcohol dry and apply a bead of silicone to all the seams and run your finger across the seams to create a nice even bead...also helps push the silicone into the seam better. I applied a little bigger "glob" of it in the bottom corners as well for extra assurance...then just let it dry. I wouldn't think you would have to wait a week though...its only toxic when its right out of the tube but give it 24-48 hours and it should be dry and become non-toxic.

be on the safe side Jedohara.
Get a bigger plastic container for him if you want to keep him out of the tank for a week.
If not daily waterchanges will be needed.
Did you reseal allready?

How quick can you get a new one?
Keeping your fish happy in the small tank will be quite a challenge!

Reseal the whole tank, if you just do a small section it may not seal properly

Also as the old silicone has leaked in one section, it may leak in other sections in the near future and you will fixing it again so just do the whole tank
