Have a question here about overhead filters. (Specially for Paul since you know the products on our local markets.)

Went to our LFS a while ago and went canvasing for additional filtration for my 50gal tank. It's currently running an HOB 200GPH. That's what the box said. 756L/hour. And a small overhead filter form my 10gal tank.

So I was in the LFS and I saw this overhead filter for a 100gal. It's a dual pump overhead filter and is affordable.

My question is, since it has two pumps, will it be too much disturbance for my 50 gal tank?

No. i would say any filter rated to 100g or even 200g, you would hardly notice the flow rate.

Really? Because I'm trying to picture it.. If I place those powerheads at the opposite side of the tank I think it'll make a whirlpool out of the tank!
I'll just have to figure out a proper position for both is that it? Or whether I place them on opposite sides it won't matter?
Too bad I didn't ask the flow rate of that overhead. I just ask them for what gallon is it.

if it is to powerful you can displace the flow with a T-juntion. but I don't think you will need to. I have had a fx5 run on a 60g tank. a fx5 is rated to 400g. how do you plan to place them? are you using them just to move water or as a filter system? pushing water up to a filter and back into the tank?

As a filter system. Right now my filter system is insufficient so I'm adding one.

I'm gonna do that. If it's too powerful, I might put a T-junction (just like you said) in one of the pumps for it to just move the water up the filter and back to the tank. I need the other one for the tank because I don't have pumps with airstones. Both pumps will pass water to the filter box of course.

Glad Marcus chimed in, for Paul is having a holiday with the misses in Thailand at the moment.
He'll be back in some time.
