Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my tank. I've found two used tanks. Option A: 140 gallon that has some scratches and stand that isn't pretty or Option B: 125 gallon with a pristine tank and really nice stand/canopy that looks new. What would you do? I'm wondering if the 15 gallon difference is really worth it since I will have to look at it everyday. Ofcourse Option C is keep looking.

I would really love to get 200+ gallon tank, but I need to save up for it since the price jump is extreme.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

depends on what you want to keep in it for the size differential, but I consider my fish tank like a piece of furniture.... therefore I want it to fit in with the rest of my furnishings and be nice to look at.

once you get a tank setup of that size, whether it's 125 or 140; once it's setup it would be a huge task to change it out..... so I say get something you'll be happy with long-term

opt c: there will be a better tank with no scratches and i neverv heard of anybody regretting getting a big as possible tank.
I got adviced to buy a tank that would fit in the space, just to keep me from having to upgrade again. i had and i never complained.
Haven't needed a upgrade since.
lol. mine has some minor scratches but i'm used to that.

15g isnt much of a difference, with either one your gonna only have room for about 2 oscars. i know the bigger tank might make it a bit easier to keep waterquality (marginally since 15g isnt much afterall) but really... how much cost difference is there??? do the scratches really bother you???? my 8' tank had turtles in it, its all scratched up, and accordingly, i got it cheap cheap, so its a fair trade for me. just depends on you i guess, i would consider costs, and just look and see which you would prefer. if they cost about the same, id get the newer tank, it should last longer without needing refurbished. peace of mind counts for alot when you think about the possibility of a couple hundred gallons of water on the livingroom floor.

I would go with the better of the 2 option B 125g. the 15g isn't nothing to worry about. if you can get bigger and have room thats a beter option but how long do you want to wait. if you don't mind waiting get what you really want and wait till you can afford it.

Thanks for the input everyone. I decided that I'm going to wait until I have the money for a 200+.

space for the location of the tank is always a contributing factor. please
check..... when my friend want a bigger tank, he grab the first good deal
that comes along... the problem is...the tank could not fit-in at the space
where it should be. the tank end up out side the house.....
