have you guys seen the new fluval G3 or G6 filters. G3 and G6, look nice and have a great cleaning feature but very over the top on price.

they have a compartment so you can clean the mechanical media (sponge) without disturbing the main bio media.that will make maintenance a breeze and would aid lowering nitrate as you could do wkly cleans without opening the filter. big benefits.

wait for the price to drop

Marcus I looked at the G6 when I got my fx5. They are great looking filters. I only went with the fx5 because it was a bigger and more powerful. It probally would have been fine for my 120gal but with all the problems I had I went overkill. It is expensive, $350 here also. The cartriges are very expensive $25 and looked as though they would have to be replaced several times a year.

Sorry, the G6 is $450 here in the US and that is on the least expensive site I have found for good fish stuff. It`s still the replacement media that would bankrupt you.

i don't much care for the looks of a filter, but this one is nice. I wouldn't buy for looks. the size will make a difference for some people, and easy cleaning for people that get nervous about pulling the filter apart in case they loose there cycle. I like the easy clean more than anything. I will still go for the fx5 cos as you pointed out, its bigger and more powerful. only down side is its heavy to move to clean. that may put some people off. for looks alone it gets 10/10.

for a UK pound of 350 to 450, i can already set up a filtration system
of a swimming pool 3W meter x 8L meter x 2D meter. @350# is almost 25,000
peso here wherein minimum wage is pegged at 380.00 pesos/day. i will no
be hook to this hobby if the cost of my equipment will be that much

my 6'Lx30"Wx24"H tank is using 3x2200LPH powerhead attached to DIY canister.
how much it cost me??? at the rate of P46.00/US$:
pump 3 x 10.87= US$32.60
media synthetic fiber worth US$8.70
PVC bio rings worth US$6.52

for a total of US$47.82, my tank is operational with:
2 x 24 inches pangasius
3 x 10 inches oscars
1 x 14 inches arowana
