Hey guys, I have a 55 gallon tank with a 8 to 9 inch oscar. I have a rena xp2 canister filter. I would like to know whats the best kind of filter media i should pack it with/ what to use and what not to use and how, any help would work.

It has 2 trays. the bottom tray has 4 layers of foam, 2 coarse and 2 fine. the next tray has bio chem stars for bio filtration and micro filtration pads, dont use chemical filtration correct??? Also i just recently added a penguin bio wheel 350

Biological is extremely important. Oscars produce lots of waste and you need really good filtration. Don't bother with Carbon. I am not really familiar with this type of filter. However, it should work well if you have got lots of biological filtration, just top it off with mechanical filtration that will catch the large particles. You can use some fine media that will catch the tiny particles, the problem is, you'll find yourself having to clean the filter every week.
