TOPIC: Pond Filter on Aquarium

Pond Filter on Aquarium 1 year, 10 months ago #86604

I found a Hagen Pond filter for $120, and I was just wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to run it on my 125. It's got a UV sterilizer on it and it does about 1500 GPH (meant for 700 gallon pond).

Can you post a link to the filter so I can get an idea of how it would run?

I just found out that you need a pond pump to make it run, I would want to have to put that in my tank. But here's a like: www.lagunaponds.com/lagunaeng/images/pum...flo_installation.jpg

I looked into the same idea. The benefit would be, for the same amount of money as a canister, you would have way more GPH.

The downfall was that you would have to put that HUGE pump in your tank. I couldn't find a way to make it work. So here is a canister I bought of of Ebay about 8 months ago, it works beautifully on my overstocked 110. Sense then I have bought 2 more. I love it.

Several other members have this same filter.

Here is the link

found this on Google

it's a good idea when you don't have holes drill in the tank for overflow
but not sure how's the flow rate. if this work you can put the pump at the overflow
for your pond filter to work

basically a submersible pump piped or attached to a canister.
that is also used as emergency submersible pump for flooded
basement without canister. the canister is purely to contain the
media....

nice as the pump and the canister are separated by means it's easy to get works
and pump are easily replaceable unlike normal canister which have pump build in the canister, when the pump screw up, most like you lose everything

actually, my present set up is the miniature version of that.
power head in lieu of big pump, then DIY jugs in lieu of canister
