TOPIC: Marine Land 360 Canister Filter

Marine Land 360 Canister Filter 2 years, 1 month ago #89212

Hi!
It's time to clean my filter. I have never done this before. I have read through the manual and watched the DVD it came with. Neither of them really go over how to clean the filter. It's more about inital set-up. I have the feeling that if I just unplug and open the filter, water is bound to come out. I don't really know how I would avoid this..? Could someone please explain it to me??

Thanks

I haven't got one of these filters myself but I would imagine they are not that different to most other canister filters where when you turn them off they fill with water. You may have to close a valve before taking the pipe off. The Eheim 2028 canister filters have a little catch that you push across before removing the pipes. Look in between where the pipes attached to the nozzle. Obviously you don't want to pull just the pipes off because the water may start draining from the tank.

Hopefully someone else will chime in but it shouldn't really be that complicated

OK, having looked at this filter, in between the top connections for the hoses, there should be a lever, if you lift up on that lever, and unplug the filter this should stop any water flow. After you do that, lift up on the assembly for the water connections. The entire black section should come out. Then you carry just the canister to wherever you are cleaning it... When you get done cleaning, plug the black assembly back into the top of the filter, plug the filter back in, and lower the lever and this will open the water lines again.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the fast responses! I see the valve you are talking about. Looks pretty simple. I feel much more confident doing this now, thanks!
