I have been thinking of changing to sand for a while and now I've decided to change to sand. For various reasons mainly because it brightens the tank up and looks better than gravel, alot better than what I have now .

My tank has my Emperor Shark, Oscar, 2 Green Terror, Tiny Severum, 2 Plecos.

I saw this really nice looking sheet of fake grass at my LFS and was wondering if you think sand would look nice with the sheet of plastic grass. Ive never used sand before and my question is how would be the easiest way to change from gravel to sand and if there is anything else I should know about sand?
I know about gas pockets and to siphon every 2-4 weeks and to churn every 8 weeks or so.
Is there anything else?

it is relatively to change substrate.

Leave the fish in and the filter and heaters etc running

Remove all decor
Scoop as much gravel out as possible
Syphon the last bits of gravel out
Wash sand and then add to the tank- but dont just pour it in. Place the sand into a bucket or container and place bucket onto bottom of tank, slowly tip bucket out and pour sand onto bottom.
spread sand out, add decor and top up tank water

Job done
I can't get no sleep
