Has anyone heard of this type of product before? I stumbled upon this product while browsing different types of filtration. In theory it sounds like it could be helpful in some situations, but not sure on the price.

Never saw it, but:

* Quickly establishes nitrifying bacteria in new aquariums
A dry block of cement, that will start bacteria by itself, no fish or added bacteria needed?
Now i'd like that explained...
And i guess a strong current in the tank will be needed, for they place it in the tank, not the filter...like living rock in salt water.

Easy-to-use --- simply rinse with chlorine-free water, soak for 24 hours, and place in fish tank.
And for that prize, i say they just want your money, badly...

Never heard of the stuff. However, as soon as I reading statements suggesting that you don't need to change the water or use a gravel vac alarm bells start ringing.

Beneficial bacteria require a surface to live on so any media with a large surface area is going to be fairly efficient.

I googled EcoBio-Stone L which didn't give me that many results. So it's either completely new on the market and nobody has really had the chance to test it properly, or is this just another gimmick.

Yeah, I thought is sounded too good to be true. If it actually did what it says it does it could be useful in some situations. It looked kind of intersting, so I was curious. Thanks for your thoughts guys.

I googled it also and found this vid on youtube. The woman says "it generally takes 2-6 weeks to fully cycle your tank". Sounds like it would be better just to take some gravel and/or media from an established tank and throw it in the new tank; as opposed to paying 60bucks for a rock.
