hi my readings are ammonia opmm, nitites 0, nirates 10, ph 6.8, my tank is still hazy after a week, but i have no filter wool in my filter only sponges ,one sponge is quit holely and the second more compact and bio rings, so going to add filter wool as well today and hope it will clear the haze, its not cloudy just hazy if you know what i mean and i really like it very very clear other wise im not a happy bunny, sometimes my hubby says the fishtank is cleaner then the house lol

Hey Kazzy, What was it you did a week ago that might have started this HAZE?
I had my Nats then at 10ppm's with no Amms and Nits. I thought I would give the water a change but I gave my BB's a bit of a kicking in the filter according to a member. So I left it for a while and it came back OK.

When I found out three days ago that my tank was.... CYCLED. Yippeeeeeee.!!! My readings then was...

Amms 0.
Nits 0.
Nats 80-100. Wow.

So I started my water changing of 30%. It dropped to about the 60ppm's. Two days ago I did another 30%. It dropped even further. Just two mintues ago I checked all four readings and.....

Amms 0.
Nits 0.
Nats 10-20ppm's
Ph 7.0

It might be the same as mine, just leaving it will bring it back.

I know what you mean about keeping the water clean. I can look down the length of my tank from the end and it is crystal....

last week i did a larger water change then usual, my nats are allways low, some how i ended up with no nats and a cloudy tank, my nats are again at 10 and the cloudiness is now a bit of a light green haze, so im going to add filter wool, and leave it until my nats get higher before i do a 25% water change again, but i know i wont be able to stop my self from doing a wee gravel clean this weekend, my oscars look healthy and alert, xxxxx

I was told Kazzy you can do more harm sometimes than good. That was exactly the same as me sweetheart. I did too much and I gave my BB's a bit of a kicking. I would just leave it and dont touch your water until your Nats are at 40ppm.

My water had that green tinge too. That was how I descibed it also.

So I just left it and it turned out OK.

It probably means your tank is doing a mini cycle with your BB's getting a bit of a kicking like mine.....
The haze I was told is a bit of a bacteria bloom with them being low..

That means taking water out and when it happened to my tank a senior member told me just to leave it. Just let the Nats build up.

When my Nits spiked (and it was'nt that high) I left it and the BB's built up and dealt with them. As I said when I checked them three days later, No Amms and Nits just high Nats.

Good luck..xxx lol

cheers jamie xxx

Re:still hazey 2 years ago #94008

my biggest pet peeve is seeing a small bit of cloudiness when looking through the tank from the side. It looks clear as a bell from the front and my readings are exactly like jamie's, so it's always a tad frustrating for me.

Thats been a few hours since I did the third and last water change after it cycled. The Nats as I said are at say..... 10-20ppm's.

Cannot believe how clear the water is. The fish are flying not swimming lol

As I said Kazzy too..... much water changes it knocked the stuffing out of your cycle. Especially with your Nats being sooo....low.

I said you would get a spike. I was told by a couple of members the same thing when I was overdoing it.

Stay of the water changes and ....DRINK ...more Vodka... lol xxx
