Okay, I have been looking at Canister filters for a bit now, and have narrowed it down to 2 different ones (ebay- budget canister filters, I might add ). For a 60Gallon Oscar tank (Oscar is about 4 inches right now). Currently I have 2 HOB 30-60 gallons and a DIY sponge filter.

So, should I get 2 of this one...

or 1 of this one...

I had been leaning a little more toward this one...

Due to its Gallons/Hour rating, media baskets and size. And I thought it work well with leaving one of my HOB (30-60g) filters on the tank.

Any thoughts good or bad are appreciated.

I believe that both Nikki and Cris use the canister filter that you have listed in your first post and they are quite happy with them. To be quite honest, I've not had any experience with either of the causa filters you have listed. However, I would definitely go with two if you can.

Thanks OFL, By the way, I stumbled across your youtube page yesterday. Some nice size oscars in your tanks. I liked how you recommended using a towel to wrap around the Oscar to move them. So do you go by Penn?

As far as the first filter I listed (the 3 stage one), I really like it and I think 2 of them will make a great addition to my 60 gallon. I am not sure if I will still try to keep one of the HOB filters if I go that route. and to do a quick ***update: I measured the area under the my tank inside the stand and it seems it would be a very snug fit for the larger taller canister...so kind of leaning more towards the smaller 3 stage filters now .

Thanks again!

I have 2 of the first filter, they are ace, and in my opinion its better to have more then one filter just in case one bombs out for some reason...

I can recommend the first one deffo

i use a sun sun canister on my jag tank(125 gallon) and i find it quiet and very efficient. the model i purchased is rated for a 250 gallon tank and it is the only filter i use on this tank. it has been running now for about 4 months and so far problem free. it has enough bio area to handle the mature jags in my tank and has kept my water in great condition.

Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

@necromancer, do you use the one with the 9v UV light? and if so, do you think that makes a big difference?

none of my tanks are in direct sunlight and i only use tank lighting for no more than 6 hours a day so algae is not a problem for me. because of this i decided against the uv model since it was more expensive than the regular.
nicki however does have one with the uv sterilizer and she loves it(if i remember correctly she has had her for over a year now) but her tank does get sun...

imho this is a great filter for the price. i would recomend them to anyone who has a small tank and wants an inexpensive filter that can deliver good flow and area for bio media. now the only test left for me is the time test. if it continues to work as it is for the long haul then my opinion on these filter will only increase.......

I do have the Sun Sun 2000lt with the UV, and on the tank that gets a lot of direct sun light, I love it... I also have 3 of the Sun Sun 2000lt with out the UV and they are just as great, but the tanks don't get near as much sunlight. So I would DEFINATLY go with 2 of the Sun Sun filters!
