So I decided to change the substrate in my 60 gallon Red Oscar's Tank; time to give sand a try for the first time. So far I must say that I really like the look of it. I also added my Fluval 204 canister to this tank along with a new 250GPH Powerhead-sponge filter combo. I then added an airstone to go along with my airpump. This was added to my 2 30-60 gallon HOB filters.

So here is a quick vid of my new setup. The sand is still settling a bit and is really starting to clear up, but still pretty cloudy. I am trying to move in the direction of a natural look... (work in progress; as always)

Thanks Tony. It's 60 US Gallons.

Thanks everyone for checking out my tank and for the kind comments.

The Cory Cat loves sifting through the sand; even the small firemouth likes to go through the sand looking for nibbles of food. It seems that once the sand sets, its easier for the fish to get leftovers than gravel is.

My Oscar is having fun swimming up current then going back into it to drift along with the current.

I am really enjoying the sand so far. This tank became my wife's favorite tank instantly. Here is a quick update video; almost 2 full days after putting sand in and the water seems to be clearing pretty well.

Yeah sand is the best. No comparison between gravel/sand in appearance, IMO. the cloudy water will end within the next day or two at the most...
