TOPIC: 6" Proper Oscar Food (Live or Not)+Baby oscar

6" Proper Oscar Food (Live or Not)+Baby oscar 2 years ago #97222

I have a baby oscar and a 6' oscar in one tank. I was wondering what I should be feeding them. Right now the big oscar gets large Oscar Show peelets and the baby gets mini Chiclid Gold pellets.
is this fine or not?

how big is the baby? when i mixed oscar of the same size, the outgrown three
were taken by the fast growing one; thus, that oscar named GLUTTON.... and the
other one that survive the ordeal was called SURVIVOR.

for the foods that you are giving them, that would be fine. anyway, when
pellets become wet and soft, the small one could even take them too.

Yea that sounds good. Pellets should be the staple but you can give them treats once or twice a week. Try to avoid feeder goldfish though
I have no idea why the water bill is so high

my big oscar has been so scared and harmed by my old fish in my other tank (puffers) that i bought him his own tank and a little oscar because he is so scared. I mean it is kinda sad that when i tried to give him fedder fish when he was 5", he ran away from them and wouldn't come out for hours

I wouldn't recomend feeder goldfish either. They can have diseases and really aren't even that good for your oscar. I do recomend that you feed your Oscar a large amount of insects such as crickets because (as I stated in a previous post) oscars are not designed to eat fish. You can tell this because they are not aero-dynamic in shape and this suggests that they would be eating mostly insects and feeding on the ocasional fish.

I am not trying to say that oscars should not be fed live fish, all I am trying to emphasize is that they also need the high amount of protein that comes from insects.
