I thought this would be helpful for newbies (myself included). I've compiled some acronyms used on the site:

LFS: Local Fish Store (a retail store near your home that sells fish and aquatic supplies - typically responsible for taking lots of your money)
MTS: Multiple Tank Syndrome (those who have more than one fish tank setup in their homes). I'm not sure at what point this turns into "INH" ("I need help - the tanks have overrun my home")
BTS: Big Tank Syndrome (those that have "big" tanks) - big; like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder:)
OLA: Oscar Lover Anonymous (brand new term recently coined by Brooksie2009)
O: Oscar (the beloved subject of this website and the fish that has brought us all together)
AG: Aquarium Geek (this is a term my husband calls me..... I have a good friend who is worse off than me - thus he is AG1 and I'm AG2)
OFL: Oscar Fish Lover - also refers to Penn (the site founder; also referred to as the Boss)

EBJD - electric blue jack dempsey

F0 - Wild caught
F1 - First brood from Wild caught parents
FW - freshwater

gH - general hardness
gibby - sailfin plec (Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps)
gph - gallons per hour
GN - gold nugget pleco
gsp - green spotted puffer
GT - green terror

HITH - hole in the head (disease)
HLLE - Head Lateral Line Erosion
HOB - hang on back (tank) filter

Ich - Ichthyophthirius (white spot disease)

jag - jaguar (cichlid, catfish, etc.)
jd - jack dempsey

kH - Total calcium hardness
Lfs - Local fish store
LLE - Lateral line erosion
LMAO- Laughing my @$$ off

mags - motaguense
mannies - managuense/jaguar cichlid
Metro - metronidazole (flagyl)
moke - polypterus mokelembembe
Mota - Motaguense

UV - ultraviolet

WTF? - What's that fish? (what else did think it meant?)
