hi guys, i got a new fire ell 8" the other day, the thing is he has hid away in my model titanic the whole time he hasnt came out once i think hes scared of my oscars, i dont think hes fed yet, what should i do?

You might want to try blood worm and shrimp for these fish. Also, I hope you realize that they can grow really big.

try wiggling a big earthworm in front of his nose.
He may be tempted to take that.
Eels are known to hide and given space to do so will hide a lot.

I owned a fire eel for a few months that had been sold back to the pet shop he was around 14 inches and all he did was hide all the time...I tried everything with him. it become extra pollution in my tank for no gain in the respect of seeing him. so I removed him and sold him back to the shop myself lol

how long did you have him staffie? did he feed at all?

I had him over 3 months and never saw him once..not even sure he ever ate one thing the whole time..all other fish in the tank where perfect

i lso currently own a fire eel
takes about 1month to get ajusted to tank
needs sand or bare bottom
once you feed him earth worms be prepaired to by a bunch because that is all he will most likly eat
not kidding
its hard to get them to eat a variety of food!
they grow kind of fast
mines pushing 21inch
they will reach 3ft easy in 3years or so
they need at least 180gallons when full grown 4ft and as fat as your arm
get lots of PVC from home depot
the whole bottom of my tank is covered in it
and with my esperince they wont come out very often if there not the biggest fish in the tank
i think because there affraid of becomin a meal to other fish!

your tank is amazing, i love the arowanas aswell, how old are they? i have a 7" arowana aswell

still they look wonderful and give a good idea of how big these fish can grow, and also how tame they can be
