I believe I have narrowed down what type of Barbs I have. I believe they are Lemon Fin Barbs. I have read that they are common in the UK, so have any of you seen or had these fish? The crazy thing is, I believe they get HUUUUGGGEEE. I have had 5 of these barbs for almost 2 months. They have grown a bit , but I didn't think they would get this big.

As you can see in this Youtube video I found, they get big. uh oh I might need to find a tropical pond for these guys some day.

they are pretty slow moving here, that looks cool.
All the fish seem to be at ease.
I've seen barb that went crazy all day, swimming up and down the tank all day, very swiftly.
And annoying...
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Yeah, the barbs in that video are huge, but atleast they seem me moving slow and peacefully. My barbs are pretty chill most of the time, when I come to the tank with a camera or food they get a little bit hyper; mainly because they love to eat. I think as these lemon fin barbs get larger they slow down significantly.

Yeah there is. The guy that owns those fish has his hands full thats for sure. Cool Rays though.

I just used the video to show how big my barbs may potentially get.

I have had mine for only 2 months. they are already over 4 inches long. I don't mind the size at this point since I have a ton of filtration going on. but I'm starting to wonder if I can afford to feed these suckers.

As a general rule of thumb if u get a young fish and they grow really fast and big in the first couple months then u have a 'BIG' fish when fully grown...

Good luck.... keep us posted...

Thanks Jamie. I will keep you updated on these fish's monster status.
Jamie I read that in the UK these "lemon fin" barbs are very popular, have you seen them a lot in fish stores out there?

Loads of filtration is only part of the story, the real difficult part is keeping the nitrates down, the higher the stocking levels the bigger/more frequent water changes. DO you really want all that work? Best stick to recommended stocking levels.
