today our crawdad that my family and i caught on a fishing trip about 2 months ago jumped out of my tank and died we will miss him. he was so cool! too big for my 9 inch oscar to eat! my 5 year old autistic daughter named him mr krabbs. she and i attended his burial in the back yard behind the garage. we will keep our eyes peeled on our next fishing trip for another. mr krabbs was about 6 inches long with 2 inch pinchers. i am posting this from my playstation 3 as my computer is getting serviced i will post pics in a few days when i get computer back

Oh thats to bad, i am sorry. I bought five 1 1/2 inche crawdads at the store two days ago and my O has eaten 2 or 3. My O is 9 inches and he demolished the two crawdads i saw him eat. I only found 2 carcasses so i am assuming there are three left but i have only spotted 2. do you have any pictures!!!!!!!

actually, shrimp, crayfish and fresh water lobster are all jumpers.
they normally float or step on any thing that runs up ward and will
try to explore any gap in your cover....

my shrimp on the community tank just did that while i'm watching the
cartoon show with my grand daughter.... it landed right in my face

Im sorry for your loss

We hear time and again about fish jumping. This why cover glass and a lid are a good idea and if you have anything in your tank that can get out of small holes then the holes need to be filled so they cant get out
I can't get no sleep

animals can be real escape artists.
I have my tanks sealed tight, but i was missing a big 10" carp once.
it couldn't have jumped out, so i took the lids off.
Turned out the carp had jumped into the overflow chamber of my prefilter.
Luckily i was there right after it happened, so the fish survived, with only a minor scratch and a bit bloody tail.
The overflow is secured too, nowadays.
